40th Anniversary of SAP: A Gala Celebration of Innovation
On April 29, 2012, software giant SAP celebrated four decades of groundbreaking innovation with a gala charity concert in Mannheim, where the company’s first office was established 40 years ago. Faber Creative Services was entrusted with the creative video installation for this milestone event.
Task / Challenge
To create an emotionally engaging and visually stunning video installation that celebrates SAP’s 40 years of innovation, using the unique concept of “the frame” to provide depth and emotional resonance.
Highlights
- Concept and Execution: The installation was based on “the frame,” an idea developed by Faber Creative Services Managing Director Matt Finke. Empty picture frames served as projection surfaces, transforming into portals that offered a glimpse into a new world. The theme “a virtual depth creates an emotional space – look inside, see beyond” guided the creative process.
- Technical Setup: The entire technical setup, including the installation of frames and media servers, was completed on the event day at the Opera House of the National Theatre. Due to the tight schedule, mapping and content playback were managed using the Pandoras Box media server from Christie.
- Special Guests:
- Tenor Rolando Villazón performed with the SAP Symphony Orchestra.
- Queen Silvia of Sweden, founder of the World Childhood Foundation, was the event’s guest of honor.
Outcome
The 40th anniversary celebration was a memorable event that successfully highlighted SAP’s journey of innovation through an immersive and emotionally resonant visual experience. The proceeds from the concert benefited the World Childhood Foundation, underscoring SAP’s commitment to philanthropy and community support.
